Shea Langeliers, the Athletics’ All-Star catcher, has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. The injury, which occurred on the basepaths during a series against the Twins, could lead to him missing the rest of the season. The move is retroactive to July 25.
Following Langeliers’ injury, catcher Brian Serven has been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas. Reports indicate that Langeliers is currently deciding whether to undergo surgery for the tear. If surgery is performed, the typical recovery timeline for a meniscus tear is six to eight weeks.

The potential absence of Langeliers is a significant setback for the Athletics. While serviceable as a backup, his performance represents a downgrade from Langeliers in a starting role.
